It is a locating pin....no worries...

My 99FXR2 has the same hole so i placed a plug button in it to cover it up so I don't have to look at it.

if you look closer, or have removed the stock exhaust, you'll find more than one empty whole in the tranny cover .... makes ya wonder what keeps it on
