Deafening SE2 pipes. Anyone having the same problem?
« on: August 02, 2010, 09:39:00 PM »

I've just picked up a 2005 CVO Fat Boy and love it but the SE2 pipes on it sound great but are deafening. I mean more than loud - they make for a very unpleasant riding experience. I'm in Australia so helmets are compulsary and it seems the helmet compunds the problem with a heavy thump thump resonating inside it. It's pretty well impossible to ride without earplugs. Has anyone had this problem? The pipes are effectively new because to get a deeper sound I replaced the V&H Wide Radius pipes that were on the bike with the original SE2s which had never been used.

The bike came with a heavy breather but no tuner (the flames coming out of the V&H were pretty spectacular!) and it runs much better with the SE pipes so I'm hoping the 103 motor might be a bit smoother if I get a Pro Tuner fitted but don't expect it to fix the noise problem.
