I thought I would post up a few initial impressions as a new user to the TTS suite of programs.
Once you figure out the process by which the tuning is done, it is almost instictive.

I have most of the "tuned" area of my map white, not even light light pink; however, there seem to be some areas I have trouble getting viable samples. I have the usual perimeter of yellow blocks, but the example maps included with the software show these as being populated with sample data. I suppose it is a natural inclination not to wind the living shyte out of my v-twin like a crotch rocket. Another thought is how long must the engine dwell on an RPM spot to sample it , or how often must it visit there?

All this being said, I am already very happy with the results; I've only blended 2 maps and there is a major seat-of-the-pants dyno improvement.

On a side bar, I am nervous V-Tuning in AZ with the ambient temps over 100 and the anti-knock, temp management and other protections off. I try to keep her cool.

It all depends on what your looking for. The yellow areas just let you know that there was not enough good data to make a proper correction. While we still make a correction and it is going the right way were just letting you know. You need to have about 5 - 6 seconds in each cell for it to get enough data. If it's on the outer areas of where you ride and your not looking for max power out of the bike then call it good enough. You can always come back and do it at a later time when it's cooler outside.

Thanks, Steve.

The biggest question was sample time.
Can that be cumulative (during a single V-Tune session), or must it be done in one go?
I'll likely try targeting the yellow spots right in the middle of my map, then call it good for now.

Thanks again!

Yes, it works both ways.

I'm going to jump in here as I have a question for Steve. Hope thats Okay.  :P

Steve,TTS will not allow me to install any map into my 2010 ULTRA Classic. It has a Stage 2 1690 upgrade and a Super SERT installed. We saved the "original" before starting and when we try and install the MAP from MasterTune, we get an error message. Attached are two pics. One showing the program reading my bikes info, the other the error message. I am using one of the original cables that came with the Super SERT and a store bought serial to USB adapter. I suspect the cables, but wanted to get your opinion before moving in that direction.

Yes, I know why your getting that error. Take your SESPT and put in a calibration that is for your bike. SESPT has an error in it an allows you to install early 2009 software into a 2010 bike. We have had this happen several times now. My bet is that's the issue. Look up a calibration in the sespt and it should be a "009xxxxx". Load that file into the bike. once it's loaded turn the switches off and then use the TTS software and it should all work. If you still have issues give us a call in th eoffice on Monday and we can get you sorted out.

There are some things you just buy on price.  Simple things.  Hammers, cans of Coca Cola, hair cuts (if you've got hair like mine).  Other things it's the product and everything that goes along with it.  Watching Cole work with his clients and service their issues so well, so friendly, effectively and easy means a lot.  Fortunately I don't need any tuning hardware/software right now.  But when the next time comes watching the man works certainly informs the choice.

Another cudo to Steve is that I didn't buy my TTS MssterTune from him. Had to have it right away (so I thought) and grabbed it at a semi local dealer. I really appreciate the help. I would have waited till Monday and bought some new cables and that would have not solved my problem.

Made 2 runs with the V-Tune and I think this thing is going to be SWEET. Had to jump in the pool and have some beers after tuning so I'll give her a test ride in the morning.

I have 2 things to add to this older thread... one is a follow up to the great experience I was initially experiencing.
1) I Still Am! Steve C is top notch, a vendor/developer of the first water all the way despite my continuing periodic questions. You just cannot do better.
2) This programming will teach the astute many things about their own model and gear setup. I should have known, but wide open exhaust(HP) with the stock SE255(TQ) cam for is a bad combo. Hard to tune, more sluggish off the line.

Occam, are you saying that the stock cam is no good for an opened up exhaust? If so, what cam should be used? Thanks

Same here. I have the 255 cam in my 103 upgrade. Was thinking on the Andrews 54 or the 574 fueling cams spoke of in anther post. Just waiting on some feedback.
