Phil gave me some great advice and I will follow his recommendations to the letter.  Go to another dealer without any intentions of putting one dealer against the other, so as Phil put it try not to get them to do the circle the wagon train crap. Any good dealer will want to inspect the primary and when they do ask to be there so I can see for myself what comes out of there.  I've been on this site for a couple of years and mostly just read but every now and then I bring up an issue and I always receive excellent advice.  Allot of times I'm given the advice to just go to another dealer and have then take care of it.  Sounds simple,  but try living where I do and try to find that dealer. I've been to most and there attitude training must come from the same place. I will see another dealer on Monday I need a break.

My thanks for the input

I'd take that that BS to the GM......and if I was the GM...... I'd fire everyone of them, no questions asked. Then I'd take it to a dealer who wants your business.

Ray,
I feel your pain and frustration! (Read my tale of woe under Disgusted) I would suggest that you call the MoCo customer service and start a trail. (414-343-4056)
Maybe make an appointment to have the primary cover pulled at one of the few dealerships in your area and check for more metal and/or bearing failure. If your still under warranty the factory should pick up the cost of repairs. If you have ESP you would pay a $50.00 deductible. This would all be predicated on them finding a problem. Also if possible have the dealership set up an appointment with the MoCo's area rep and get him involved in this issue. Continue to be calm and patient. I would continue to try to work through the original dealership if you can stand it. The paper trail of work order's is extremely important in this situation. Good Luck!

P.S. I'm originally from the Franklin area and understand your problem with a lack of choices concerning dealerships up there.

I don't think my dealer would agree.  I complained about a grinding noise during startup and they replaced my starter, clutch basket, and replaced the compensator with the SE compensator (which is now standard on the 2011 bikes - has stronger springs and more travel).
My dealer is Smokey Mtn HD, Maryville, TN.  Everything I've had done there has been done right.

Not all of us are as fortunate as you. I stopped at that dealership while travelling thru in June. I had an issue that they jumped on immediately with two tech's. They are top notch in my book. Now come to the Denver area and check out some of the crap dealers we have to deal with.

Hmm...well, it's good to hear I do have a good dealer.  They actually give top priority to breakdowns.  My bike had to sit at the dealer for a couple weeks, partly for the compensator (factory was backordered), I got my comp from a dealer in the west part of the state (according to my dealer).
It's been a few thousand miles and she still starts great.  Now if the rest of the bike will follow suit!

I'll remember what you said when I'm out in your neck of the woods.

Ray, those pieces look like they originated from a bearing cage.

Or maybe pieces of the ring gear since he is also having starting problems.

But he is not alone.

This picture is my primary plug from the first year I had the bike. Took the pic to the dealer next time in for service (hot starting)  as well as the chunks. They found no problem and lost the pieces.

This what I found when I took the primary off.

Fixed it myself with a Riviera kit.

Unfortunately it seems that the HD mechanic nowadays does not consider that there are Owners of bikes out in the world that are PRO-ACTIVE rather than RE-ACTIVE. I am not sure why that is but the answer to your situation is quite simple in my eyes. Find someone who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If i were an HD mech and i saw that i would ask all the appropriate questions and then determin if you were willing be finacially responsible if nothing adverse were found. The trouble is, the STEALER just doesn't wan't to be responsible in ANY way. IE: Responsible for the "Right Thing"!

Oh, and BTW...........NEVER walk up on ANYONE during their lunch break. ;) :huepfenlol2:
