Newbie moving.  Many near DC area?
« on: February 28, 2006, 07:56:15 PM »

I'll be making a move to the Quantico area soon.  Can anyone pass any suggestions as to good rides near there (I've lived in Quantico before and remember the interstate being a pain)?  I'm hoping to link up with any other CVO members going to Rolling Thunder if my schedule permits, but can anyone tell me of other events y'all go to on a regular basis on the east coast?  Thanks for the tips in advance.  And thanks to all who have given me tips and help so far!!!  This site is great!

TankerPig,
I'm about 2.5 hours south of D.C. and have relatives and friends in No.Va/D.C./Md. area and will be up there often when weather breaks. Check out my profile and look for my personal homepage, and you will see some local biker events. When I'm going to be in your area I'll let you know maybe we can hook up. Semper Fi.

Tanker.....There's several of us from "down South" planning on Rolling Thunder this year.  Keep an eye on the Events thread and let's coordinate all getting together.

Sounds great.  The biker events page on your website was really helpful.  I knew there were plenty of events, but not that many  ;D

Welcome TankerPig.  My husband and I both ride SEEGs and we moved ourselves from Stafford, VA to Colonial Heights only a year and half ago.  You are heading for an area with great riding, all year long too.  The traffic is something you will have to learn so you can avoid massive congestion, but that does not take too long. You live almost on Lake Anna and the rodes that criss cross over her are awesome.  You are only minutes from the mountains, Please look up Route 56.  A sweeper road that is very challenging.  Icecream at Carl's in Fredricksburg is a favorite bike stop.  There are a lot of the members of this great site who live close to you.  I am sure we will have a lot of opportunites to meet at Open Houses, State Rallies, Big Rides, Iron Butt, Rolling Thunder etc.  Join the East Coast HOG chapter, they ride every Sunday and more.  You will love the area.  A lot to do and see.  Glad you found us.  As FireD00d said, we will try to make you aware of when we will be in your area and we can get together.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] ;)
