Finally Home!
« on: March 01, 2006, 09:52:17 PM »

We got it home today! The weather was about 60 degrees, pretty good for this time of year here. Put 50 miles on it and was very pleased with everything. The wife really likes her seat and the radio so I'm happy too!

Weather is going to turn crappy through the weekend so I doubt we'll get any riding in for a bit. As soon as I can get more time on it I'll pass along any comments/problems...

Here's a pic... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Congratulations on your new scoot!!! Excellent color (I'm just a little biased!) now roll out the sleeping bag & get comfortable since you'll eat, live & breathe it for at least a week! Now the other hard part..... getting to the point where you can open 'er up and feel the power! Enjoy!!!

Great looking scoot [smiley=banana.gif].  It's hard to wait for that perfect riding weather.  I guess that's why we have heated seats and grips ;D  Hope you enjoy your ride.  We just got a huge dump of new snow up here so count your blessings.

No kidding about the first week. My wife says she hasn't really seen me for the last week, but she's not complaining.  LOL  When my kids got home from school yesterday I was down in the shop cleaning the bike and my daughter came down and said " Daddy, you sure do wash your new bike a lot"  Gotta love it.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks everyone for your notes! It is sooo much fun.
I spent a lot of time in the garage last night trying everything I could. Pretty much got the gadgets figured out, at least until I actually ride again and then can't remember how they work.

A few comments so far;

I got the new temp/level oil dipstick, 62946-05, and it seems to be accurate as far as the oil level goes. Really like this piece.

When I got it home one of the things I did was to check the oil level and it was almost a full quart low. I know it didn't burn or leak it with just 50 miles so be ware. I have a really good dealer and we even talked about the oil but....

The air shocks had 5 pounds, talked about that also but still low.

As for antennas, I had an in fairing AM/FM antenna installed and it worked great for the 50 miles we rode. (didn't have the XM activated yet) I don't use CB, yet anyway, so had that antenna pulled also. If I opt to use it I see plenty of options that have been posted here.

I like the bag lights. I have the Radiantz LED strip and will install that soon. Thanks to Hazer_52 for the connector info. Of course I forgot to stop at the parts counter so I guess I'll just have to go back, too bad.

Had the Tour Pak set to the rear position but could use more room still. I'm going to order the relocation plate from Mr. Anderson per posts on this site. Thanks again all.

All in all it's just such a cool bike, I really liked our 05 Road King Classic but this one beats it hands down. And the best thing of all, the wife likes it too!

So far, even in bright sun, the paint seems pretty good. I do see some difference between the bag lids and the bags but it's very slight at this point. I will watch that closely since it sounds like it can change with time.

For you guys still waiting, it's worth the wait!!

Later

Here's a shot of the right bag in the sun.....

Congrats!!, one of the things to look for on your paint , is swirl marks from the buffer, Mine had them, and as the wax wore off, and after a couple months, the color got worse on the bags, The swirl marks are also worse. You shouldnt have to buff out a factory paint job. Period. GL with yours, keep us updated on your paint, good or bad please, and again, have fun!!!
