Progressive Monotube Cartridges & 440(HD) I.A.S. Shocks
« on: July 29, 2010, 07:36:58 PM »

After reading here and talking(texting) with some, I had the standard height Progressive Monotube Cartridge Kit installed in the forks and the Progressive 440s'(HD) installed on the rear.  All I can say is "thank You, thank you, thank you"...  Now I never bottom out, bounce or feel like the bike is going to slide out from under me.  It is like getting out of my old Ford Expedition and getting into a Corvette.  It finally feels like I thought it should.  Firm and great handling.  Oh, yeah, I only spent $1100.00 total and that included the labor.  I know it is not Traxxion Dynamics(AK20) & Bi-Tubos, but I love it and I still have some money to take on my 4 Corners Trip.  Have a great summer. :bananarock:

 Rick,
I'm glad to see you like them my bike is in Jim's shop as I write having the Mono-tubes installed, Jim just finished Marty's (110Moto ) bike with them also he seems pretty happy also, there's a couple of members here in the Nor-Cal area that have them now and all reports are like yours. we'll be giving them a good test next month when Marty & I leave for NC and on to The Gorge.

I did the monotubes and progressive 940 touring shocks and it was
a vast improvement over stock. would do it all over again.

Ride is much better on ALL surfaces than before. period.

Chip,
This forum is gonna put me back to work, if only to feed my Harley habit.  Ordered the 2 into 1 Supertrapp Supermegs today.  Need to make it a little quieter as my hearing test last week shows my hearing is getting worse.  Had to have my digital ears dyno'd for correction so I made the 2-1 leap for "quieter" sound.  BSR said it was okay since I had a prescription from my doctor. ::)  Damn I love that woman.  Gonna make a committed effort to see you all at the Gorge on my way north to Maine. Isebulls you will love the Monotubes.  The slow speed steering is even improved.  Ride safe and see you soon.

I put the 13" 440s oon the rear, going to try the monotubes, what is the difference of the 12" and 13" rears?, Im kind of sorry I didnt go with the 12 inch rears now, that being the case, should I stay with stock height on the mono tubes.

I have been running progressive 940 12" for two weeks now am switching back to stock because they are they are just plain garbage bottom out on the smallest bumps I hate em. THE 12" STOCK SHOCKS WERE BETTER !!

Have you cranked up the preload? I thought that about mine at first, but kept turning it 1-2 turns then trying it out again, and now they don't bottom out at all.

I have the Mono tubes and 11.5" 440's on my 2004 SEEG....... Way better ride than stock set up

I started out with the regular springs on the 440's but they bottomed out with total spring preload .... I then switched to the HD springs and have no bottom out problems with 0 turn in them.... I weigh 185 .... with a passenger I usually put 2 turns in them and the ride is fine.....

My 2 cents....

I have 440's & Monotubes.  I told Frank my height & weight 6'1 210 & wifes approx. 155 and he said go standard but to crank them up all the way with my wife on and loaded.  I now keep them cranked all the way and they work well both loaded with wife & solo.

Anyone have trouble at highway speeds in a curve?  I’ll get a death wobble if I don’t watch it with the 1” monotubes and 12” 940s.  My buddy can walk off from me with his stock 06 SEUC.
