Progressive Mono tube. Lower or not?
« on: January 04, 2011, 05:19:24 PM »

I've got a 2010 SESG and plan on the progressive Mono tube.  Trying to decide if I want to lower the bike or not.  I'm not verticaly challenged by any means, but like the look of a lowered bike.  Also it should help on the launch.  I've got 130hp and dropping to a 30t front sprocket so that maybe an issue.

Has anyone installed the 31-2501 mono tubes and if so did you lower 1" or 2"?

Installed on my wifes street glide. She is 5' 5". Went with the 2" . It looks cool and the bike rides great. Definetly handles better, Keep in mind , i have a 21" front wheel and tire and had already lowered the rear. The handling sucked like that. By lowering the front , the center of gravity is a lot closer to stock. She loves it... :2vrolijk_21:

Greater clearance equals greater margin of safety and faster sharper turns.
I agree, it does look better when lowered.

I don't know about SESG's but I lowered my SEUC with the Mono's in the front and Progressive Suspension 940's in the rear. At 5' 9" with a 32 inseam, I am able to handle this bike better, and the bike handles better. Who changed your sprocket, what parts did you use, and how much did it cost to go to the 30 tooth sprocket? I am lookikng to do the same on my SEUC.

Well I'm not vertically challenged. 6'1" 35" inseam. I just like the way a lowered bike looks.  I just want to make sure the lowering kit doesn't effect the ride.  Now I'm trying to decide between 1" or 2".

Haven't done the sprocket change yet, my dealer has a 15% off parts and labor sale, so i'm doing the Progressive monos and sprocket change this month along with a couple of other things.

Dropping ours an inch in the front helped me control the bike better and I think it actually helped in handling. I'm interested in your sprocket change, my dealer told me $420 in labor plus parts. Just wondering what their telling you for labor and cost. We are also getting 15% off during the winter months.

The pully is $117 and the carbon Fiber belt is $169.  The belt is higher then the kevlar belts, but they are 33% stronger, so they say.  I don't know the exact labor.  He is charging me 9.5hrs total for the suspension, sprocket change, install of a speedo module and dyno run to set the speedo, 10,000 mile service, and a couple other small things.  I think it's around 3-4 hours for the sprocket change.  He is giving me 15% off unless the bill is over $1500, then its 20% off.
