What is a better riding bike. The 2011 CVO Electra Glide or the 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra?

Depends....the RG is going to handle better at higher speeds and when encountering heavy winds since the fairing is attached to the RG's frame instead of the front forks like the Ultra. You'll get more overall wind buffeting on the rider from the RG than the Ultra since the Ultra provides greater overall wind protection. The lighting at night from the Ultra moves with the steering while the RG's headlights always go straight even when you're making a sharp turn. That can feel alittle odd on your first couple of night rides on the RG.

If you have short arms you'll want to go with the Ultra since its a looooong reach to the controls on the dash of the RG. A windshield bag on a RG might not make much sense since it will be a very long reach to the bag, while on the Ultra a windshield bag will be a very nice convenience. Otherwise the bikes are identical.

Had a Road Glide a few years ago. Rode it from Calif. to the 95th in Mil. Heavy wind, rain the entire way. Was blown 1\2 lane over passing trucks. Another friend with a Road Glide on the trip had the same thing happen. I think the additional side surface on the fairing creates this effect. Bat wing boys....no problem. Got home..sold the RG and went back to an Ultra.
Very happy.

If you rode it to the 95th most likely it had the be a evo 98 Road Glide. (or a brand new 99)
A comparison of a bike 12 years old to a new one is probably not a good one.
Just sayin. . . .

Might depend more on what part of the bike is being discussed Chip.  I've been on a few of the new Road Glides and of course on the old one.  If it's the frame related handling characteristics there is a difference.  Regarding the bike's reaction to wind, however, the new ones and the old ones catch it the same way.

Personally I seem to notice similar amounts of wind bouncing on the Road Glide and Electra Glide style.  Similar amounts; though in different ways that aren't at all subtle.  Each you can become accustomed to.

Rode my first RG a couple of weeks ago. It was a 2011 RG Ultra. It seemed to me that going down the rode the ride was pretty much the same, wind hitting alittle differantly but pretty much a toss up. I did notice that the RG was lighter feeling at slow speeds. It felt similar to my Road King. I was turning in to park with a late turn and the bike just did what I wanted effortlessly. The Ultra felt "heavier" doing the same sharp turn to park. Overall considering handling, looks, wind, egornomics and everything, I still have to vote for the Ultra Classic. I do have a new appreciation for the RG and would be happy to ride one anytime.

There's definitely clear answers. It's just that they are different answers for each individual.

I think it depends on if you want a fixed fairing or one that goes where the bike is pointed.  I like the fixed fairing myself but love riding my buddies RG as well.

Chit I guess there is no real good answer after all.

Then you need a slow winding extended assembly Road King to complete the troika :drink: .

Nah, I've never been a Road King fan...like the fairing and all the trimmings.   :2vrolijk_21:
