speedometer/odometer
« on: November 21, 2003, 06:19:44 PM »

The speedometer on my FXR4 reads about 5-6 mph fast, at 55mph, and the odometer reads 1.3 miles per mile. Is there a way to calibrate them? Anyone else run into this situation?

I have an FXR4 as well, and I have had some minor issues. Mine will occasionally read about 20 MPH lower. Sometimes when i am in 5th gear at 2500 RPM its showing 40 to 45 MPH. I have to stop, turn off the ignition, and then it returns to normal. Not sure what causes this, but I assume its some sort of wiring issue in the transmission or something. It does not seem to serious. Any thoughts?

I had this issue on my 00' UC and it turned out to be a bad speed sensor in the tranny.

The FXR4s have electronic speedo.  Yes they can be calibrated.  HD has a box that simulates the pulses of certain speeds.  There is a calibration mode you might accidental go into .  I believe if you hold the reset button while turning on the ignition, it goes in diag mode and calibration.
