Oil cooler fans: results.
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:24:38 PM »

I did a little quick testing today to see if my Big Sky fans really worked to help reduce oil temps on the '10 Limited.
Results: yes!

Details: found that at idle the temp drop was much more than at higher RPM. Possible cause: oil moving too fast through the cooler and not transferring the heat to outside air.
The oil cooler tested was a Jagg 10 row from my buddies bike. I haven't tested the stock Harley cooler yet.

Fluke 50D.
Thermistors attached to inlet and outlet fittings at the oil cooler.

I now have 2 temp recording devices and think I'll place some sensors around the bike in different places just to see the difference in temps.
