Side Stand too long
« on: September 13, 2010, 12:08:29 AM »

The friend of mine that has the Ultra Limited that I have been working on has installed the Profile Lower Shocks & had the 1" front lowering kit installed in the front forks.

He love is, but...  Now the kickstand is too long, the bike stands too upright when on the side stand.

Has anyone done the same ;lowering & if so what did you do about the side stand?

Thanks

Sklywag, I had the opposite problem when my 09SEUC was delivered. It leaned way too much. HD changed the jiffystand bracket. ( I think on the early 09's HD didn't realize that when you put a larger front tire on and change the frame maybe you should adjust the jiffystand to make up for the other changes.) Anyway, maybe an older model Jiffystand braket will make his bike lean more. Just a thought. CAHDBIKER

If its a newer model, the wedge wont work, because the jiffy stand bracket is bolted to the drivers foot rest, if you put a wedge under it, you will change the angle of the running board. I have a 2010 SEUC, that I lowered front and rear, and now have the same problem. The 1 inch shorter jiffy stand from Arlen Ness, isnt really 1 inch shorter than whats already on their. I bought it, but its not any shorter. About the only other choice is to find someone with a shop that will heat it and bend it to increase the lean angle. Then the chrome will come off and it will have to be rechromed. The bracket from the 09 SEUC may work, if you can find one. You cannot order the old bracket from Harley, best bet is to find a shop and ask if they changed any, and if they still have the old one. :-\ :-\

I just had the HD low profile rear shocks and the HD front lowering kit installed on my 2011 FLTRUSE and the lean angle is perfect. It has about the same lean angle as my old bike, a 2009 FLTRSE3.

The 09 and early 10 jiffy stand bracket should work for him Bill.  For us, the early brackets leaned the bike over too much.  The MoCo redesigned it shortly after the 2010 model was released and many of us had to have them changed out.
