Does ZUMO 660 get traffic?
« on: September 15, 2010, 06:38:39 PM »

Looking at Garmin's web site, it says the 660 gets traffic, but it does not have the T after the model number.....  which is it?  Does anyone use this service.  Living in Seattle, traffic sux, so this could be a nice option.

You have to buy the traffic antenna and subscription.

Wife has the traffic thing on her Nuvi in the car, and our experience with it so far has been less than awe inspiring.  First time it decided a short traffic slowdown on I-94 justified dumping us onto city streets in one of the less desirable areas of Chicago.  Turned out we would have saved a lot more time just creeping along for a short time on I-94 until the cops cleared a stalled vehicle, without all the drama of our little side trip.  Then when we really needed the traffic service on a couple other trips, we weren't in an area with traffic service reception or some such thing.  I pretty much ignore it now.  It was included with the particular model Garmin she has, but if I were to buy another one I'd not pay extra for the traffic receiver and subscription.  JMHO

Thanks, thats the type of feedback I was looking for, honest and to the point.  I was back in Northwest Indiana (Valpo) in Aug and since I was on the bike, I completely avoided 80/94.  It's hard enough in a car, or even a tank for that matter, but on a bike no way, not me.  Did it once and that was more than enough!
