09 Ultra Crank Run Out
« on: September 04, 2010, 08:11:55 PM »

My 09 Ultra has a .002 run out at 20K miles.  Good for gear cams or not? :-\

OK but not great, and understand that you need to follow the installation procedure to the T and measure gear lash. You will likely need an undersized outer gear to get the lash right. At that point there is likely to be some gear clash noise.
And then if the crank slips later.....?????
Consider not doing it.

Why waste the money on gear driven cams anyway?

the chain and tensioner's have been doing fine I thought?

.002" is pretty darn good, but there is no need to go to a gear driven cam on that bike.
That hydraulic cam chain set-up is actually very good.
