2011 Softail Heritage Classic
« on: September 11, 2010, 07:30:38 PM »

Well it finally happened (almost). I can't hold the Ultra up anymore. I almost lost it stopping on a slight incline. Just like when I dropped the CVO Ultra. I headed for the dealer for a trike. Sat on a Softail while there and it was a huge difference. Four inches lower seat level and a whole lot lower center of gravity. Went for it. Psychedelic Purple and Black.
Bought a Can-Am Spyder the same day.
I will get this right eventually.

Picked both up in the rain yesterday. The Softail seems to be much better for me. After 4 touring bikes since 2003 (2 CVo's) the softail feels light and easy to get around. The Spyder is a hoot to ride. I still want to put my feet down. But thats OK. No front brake is wierd. Very quick and stable. The steering is real touchy for me till I get used to it. Very nice 2 up machine. I traded for the Softail and bought the Spyder for less than trading my Ultra for a Harley Trike.

Great choice. The Heritage is my favorite bike. I just wish that the Mo Co had made that the CVO rather than the Convertible

tompen,
Sorry to hear you had to trade, I was having problems with my SEUC too. I decided to lower instead of trading. After lower the Ultra with Progressive Suspension my bike handles and balances much better. I still may have the seat reworked this winter when I can ride. Otherwise Fat Baggers Inc has a 3 in seat lowering kit that I really like, but just don't want to shell out the 3500 to get it done. Good Luck with the new toys!

I did consider lowering the Ultra, but, I trade when they go out of warranty (or the rear tire wears out) and didn't want to spend the money on a 3 model year old bike. Even lowered it still has a higher center of gravity. Not thinking about riding 2 up changes everything for me. I really like the softail. We go 2 up on the Spyder now. My wife likes it a lot.  Having reverse is cool.

I will certainly test ride the Spyder when I am getting close to going with a trike but should I hit the lottery before then will prob go with the Boss Hoss trike
