2009 Ultra brakes
« on: September 27, 2010, 02:53:01 PM »

Last week I bought a 2009 CVO Ultra and it's the best bike I've ever owned by far, it's 13 months old, has 3800 km (about 3000 miles) on it and has the extended service plan.

Problem is when I come to a stop I can feel the bike pulsing right up until it comes to a stop. This is just a routine stop at a light, not a panic stop. The weird thing is once it's stopped it continues to pulse, I tried it this morning in my garage and when either the front or rear brake is applied the bike shudders. Normal???

I've read somewhere about an upgrade to the ABS system, could this fix the problem? I'll take it into the dealer in the next few days but I am wondering if anyone has any advice on this.

Don't know about the "upgrade to the abs system"..  Probably has warped rotor(s)..  Welcome to the site!

Would normally be the answer but he says it continues when he is stopped , and also shudders when using front or rear brake parked in his garage.

See Service Bulletin attached.  As for the "shuddering" when sitting still, is that felt as a vibration, heard as a noise, or possibly both?  Could be the ABS pump activating and the resulting vibration being transfered to the bike, even though the ABS pump is supposed to be rubber mounted.  :nixweiss:

I had the CVO at the dealers yesterday and after checking it they said there is no problem, the service manager even showed me how his does the same thing. I've dealt with these guys for years and trust them but I'm still a little sceptical and will keep an eye on it. The last 5 riding seasons were spent on a 06 Ultra with a stage 2 big bore kit so this bike will take some getting used to, a whole new set of vibrations, clunks and bangs to deal with.

Thanks again for the input.

Have a safe day
