Rear Lowering Kit and Crankcase breather
« on: April 18, 2006, 12:29:42 PM »

Aparently  was uder the mistaken impression that my 2002 SE Roak King came lowered in the rear from the factory. I have a 3 part question.
A) Is this true?
B) If not what is the best way to accomplish this? With the shocks or blocks?
C) HAs anyone done this modification and how does it affect the overall ride?

I have lowered the front end and it slams every once in a while.

Also, has anyone ever heard of the crankcase breather on this bike sucking the gearbox dry?

Both the '02 & '03 SERK came lowered in the rear, believe it was 1" but will check the factory brochure to confirm. There is a H-D kit available to lower the front, but it references to use only with a certain rear shock p/n so you need to be sure of that item (will also check the p/n and add later). For a quick reference, you can go to:
http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2002models/2002models-Harley-Davidson-FLHRSEIScreaminEagleRoadKing.htm

Also the pics there make great screen savers, and they're free. Free is good! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

UPDATE: I checked the literature for '02&'03 SERK's and the rear is referenced as "Profile low rear suspension". H-D service mgr says that equates to 1" lower than stock. The part book lists
rear shocks as 54662-02. The newer front lowering kit supposed to work only with shocks p/n 54631-02B, so it looks  like some discussion with a sharp service type will be best. I've heard that one reason MOCO did not also lower the front was some worry about bottoming out and damaging the front fender and lower triple tree. But, never seen it in writing.
