Anyone seen this?
« on: September 18, 2010, 08:33:30 PM »

After finding super fine metal particals in my oil i tore into the cam chest. Everything looked pretty good but did find the outer cam bearing retainer damaged. Looks like the bearing was turning in the cam support plate but plate looked fine :nixweiss: Hard to tell. Bearings didnt seem damaged

Saw more of this with the early 99-2001 bikes. If it spun buy a new plate. Guys will tell you to stake it or use loctite, refrain and fix it right.
Use an S&S heavy duty retainer plate also.

Had a 2000 Road King that happened to Van.  If memory serves used the spun bearing as an excuse to change cams and add Feuling cam plate.  Pretty sure it was something other than OE replacement as those early TC had a rep for failures.  Good catch :2vrolijk_21: .
