Shade Valley Campground in Sturgis
« on: November 24, 2010, 03:27:40 PM »

Anyone ever camp there?  I usually stay in Rapid City at the Quality Inn and have camped before also, at Hog Haven.  Shade Valley looks OK PLUS they even rent large tents with air mattress which makes packing much easier for the overall trip/side trips.

http://www.shadevalley.com/location.html

I'm just sick and tired of paying $250 a night for a hotel room that costs $88 any other week!! Sturgis Greed is getting kinda extreme.

Haven't stayed there but stayed last year at Lamphere Ranch by Glencoe. The only issue we ran into is that location means to ride anywhere you have to go through Sturgis first. Even though we were across the street from Full Throttle 3 miles from town it often took over 45 minutes to get into/thru town.
Engine was pretty hot idling all that time and several bikes were on the side of the road with troubles?

Might want to stay out near I90 side of town perhaps Hog Heaven or Mount Rodney  :nixweiss:

Also there is a service we used to rent an RV from Sturgis RV Rentals contact Eric @ (605) 645-0797 he can set you up  :2vrolijk_21:

When we got there the 5th wheel unit was set up on our site and at the end of the rally we just rode off and they come and get it. Easier and a lot more fun than a hotel room.
