Question on 2011 SEUC radio
« on: November 23, 2010, 11:22:02 PM »

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2011 SEUC.  Can anyone tell me if the radio on the 2011 SEUC has sattelite and/or bluetooth installed?  If not can I swap out the Zumo 660 with my Zumo 665 I currently use on my Limited?

The 2011 comes with the ability...ABILITY...to have satellite radio.  It is a subscription that needs to be activated.

It also has the Zumo 660 installed as a "stock" item; which would make putting your 665 that already has XM, a simple swap.  Then you can sell the 660 to someone who would like it.

No bluetooth anymore...but I have heard of using the Zumo along with the HD Bomm sold by one of the forum members that is supposed to be the "hot ticket".

The XM will not work on a 665 when it's in the 660 cradle.  I had a 660, bought a 665 and installed it in the 660 cradle.  XM would not work even though the two cradles look exactly the same.  Installed the 665 cradle and XM worked.  Maybe the 2011 has a 665 cradle installed.  Not sure....

Tommy, I thought I read somewhere that Garmin had begun using the 665 cradle for both the 660 & the 665.

Technically all HK radios have the ability to have XM, the difference is the SEUC and RUSE radios come equipped with the XM antenna/receiver module already installed, but in order to receive more than the one free channel being broadcast, the radio must be activated (new SEUCs and RUSEs come with a free 3-month subscription) by signing up for a subscription.

Could be, but is Harley putting the 665 cradle on the 11's?

I'm aware that the 665 won't work in the 66o cradle.  I had a friend who had a 665 cradle go bad.  Garmin mistakenly replaced it with a cradle for a 660.  Even though the plug was there for the XM antenna, the cradle must be pinned differently, because it wouldn't work.  After a couple calls to Garmin they figured out the problem and sent him the correct cradle.

Thanks for the info.  I was wondering if I could get rid of the 665 and have everything on the new bike I have on the old with the 665.  Looks like I could have everything but the weather.   I don't know, maybe I can just switch the stock cradle with my 665 cradle

Unfortunately, you can't just switch the cradles.  The wiring harness is "hard-wired" to the cradle, so you'd either have to cut the wire on both cradles and splice the new cradle to the old wiring harness, or open up your fairing and remove the cradle and old wiring harness and install the new cradle and wiring harness.
