665 and XM weather radar
« on: November 11, 2010, 01:38:55 PM »

Activated the XM on my new 665 and signed up for weather. 665 manual says to go "Tools>Weather>Forecast" for the forecast; this worked. For the radar, 665 manual says touch "Tools>Weather>Radar"; this option doesn't seem to be there.

I checked my XM subscription (had do activate via the 800 number) online and the weather seems to be some aviation package. The representative when I activated told me the weather should be around $3-4 per month.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks.

I thinks its Tools>Settings>XM Subscriptions.

Thanks--The problem seems to be that for most of the customer service agents, english is a second language. I want to pay about $12 for xm, $4 for weather, and $2 for XM online. They've got me on the free three-month Harley trial. When that expires, they've got me signed up for a $99 per month aviator package plus $9 per month stand alone online. Gave up with the agent I was talking to. Will try again later...

I about went nutz trying to get NEXRAD Radar.  XM was sending Me Basic Weather instead of NavWeather. Had them make that change then resend me the signal and all is good

Has anyone received the free XM activation/90 day service with XM NavWeather by using the promotion code [HARLEYXM3] that appears on page 21 of the manual?

Another 1 hour call and still can't get it going... My guess (my hope) is that it's something simple. The XM customer service agent insists that this GXM40 antenna is for an airplane. I think the problem might be more complicated because of the trial period and the promo code.

It took me two tries to get my XM activated, the first time after 45 minutes with someone in a far away country and it did not work.  Second time I believe I got someone in the US but it took one hour 30 minutes on hold and two questions to her supervisor.  Finally got it done, haven't seen bill yet can't wait to see what I get charged for.

The problem is the dummies you are talking to. It took me 6 calls to get them to send me the correct signal.  Check the status of your xm subscriptions. The should show XM, NavTraffic (if you are subscribed to it) NavWeather. If you do not have that the have the set you up for it and then have them resend/rest the signal.
