I have spoke with several other bikers that did not know that after the HD warranty ====YOU do NOT have to take it back to HD====You can take it to any authorized HD mechanic that does extendid warranty work

Also if you purchase your Extendid warranty service plan the day you purchase your bike===Must be 100 miles from home===you get a free rental for up to 10 days===they pay partial on your food==also partial on motel rooms====Will also pick up on towing fees====no cab fees re-imbursed

The ESP can only be purchased within the 2 year period or within 75,000 miles after that you are on your on

What defines "authorized HD mechanic" or should I say who defines it?

The ESP administrator defines who is a participating service facility.  A good person to ask about this might be hd-dude, I think I remember reading some time back that he was authorized to do ESP work.
