i have just got the softail covertible it has about 500km on it after 3 weeks and it is awesome to look at , engine is smooth and responsive, throttle by wire is a great improvement in looks and response, i have the red , i bought it sight unseen after seeing one photo,
went to a hog function at the weekend, there were some pretty slick bikes there a number og cvo glides and ultras , but everyone just could not get enough of the convewrtible, touring..... well every harley is a tourer , a few years ago i brought my stock custom softail to america , no screen . just loud pipes and saddlebags and did 11, 000 km in 3 weeks including sturgis , milwaukee and los angeles, every bike is a tourer :pepper:

Yep, every bike is a tourer!  These guys are going to Aspen — who can name the movie?

Well you could take everything off a Conv. and have a ST

Look at these pictures and now you know what you can do with a Conv.

back to your original question.

I understand you already got yourself a FLHXSE. So for the long haul you got the best there is.

For other purposes if I had to choose between Convertible and Fat Bob I would definitely and without a seconds hesitation get the Fat Bob.

Just take one of them out for a ride and you will know. I have no special interest in the matter as I'm a touring forever rider, but I ride all models at least once a year and the fat bob is the most agressive ride of all present big twins. It's build for acceleration and speedy twisties and it's handling like a bike 100 pounds less. Only shortcoming are the breakes, a little overstressed with the bikes power (when used to the FLHTCUSE4). Compared to the Fat Bob the softails are painfully hesitant in acceleration - and their lean angle is a pity. Used to the FLHXSE you will be deeply disappointed with their performance.

The softail has her own merits, but as a second bike for the fast solo run it will never be my choice. And the new gimmicks introduced 2011 will have to proof their roadworthyness for at least one more year anyway before I would touch one of them ;-)

Just my two cents - and no insult to softail riders intended off course ;-)

[/ I disagree with your saying they are hesitant on acceleration......My FLSTSE is better from flat to 5500rpm than my Victory Vegas w/stage 2 kit and that bike would pull just about any V from 0-50mph, now this is after I did the pipes and intake......yes the lean angle is not good for tight fast sweepers or switchbacks...now with normal driving in Florida....No problem LOL, ride is comfortable and I am 6' and a 36" inseam

And the new gimmicks introduced 2011 will have to proof their roadworthyness for at least one more year anyway before I would touch one of them ;-)I Agree
