My view also is that Easyriders needs to improve or lose. Been a sub for years, will not renew unless they go back too yesterday. A few boobs does not make a biker rag!!!!

JC:

I hope you know I was just having fun.

You're right the magazines have changed a lot over the years. I find myself reassessing each one as the subscription starts to expire.

American Iron is another one that has added more and more uninteresting articles over time.

I hope you have a great holiday!

Jerry

Busy Holiday Jerry! Which is why I'm gone so long.  In no way was I offended.  It's pretty hard to offend me.  HOpe your was good too.

I finally got caught up with my reading and I have to agree with your AIM opinion. Besides less intersting, it's almost as biased as HOG magazine when it comes to Harley.  The 5 month "build" of the Road King which was a free advertisement for Harley P&A (It was the dang bike they used in the catalog!).  The "Syn 3 or bust" attitude.  Hey, I like Syn 3, but jeeze you think they get paid by the quart at AIM? etc.  But it's the only rag left that seems to still be about American bikes.  I don't want to read about sport bikes and import cruisers.  So I'm stuck with AIM.  And boy do I miss American Rider.

I also have been rolled to Rider.  Typical mag these days.  Harley can do no right and Japan can do no wrong other then not being German which of course are the motorcycle mesiahs.  Granted, Harley has left a lot of room to snipe at them these days, but even the areas that Harley is good at, I've seen Rider gloss over or ignore.  So, they've spent more then the cost of a subscription in sendimg me renewal notices for Rider.  Not happening.  I'm down to American Iron and the AMA & HOG rags.  There's a touring Mag that I found one issue of while traveling called Roadrunner.  I may try to hop on that if I can find another one.  The one I read was good, just like to verify that it wasn't a fluke.

JC I just saw this post. I subscribe to "Roadrunner" it is bi-mthly. They cover all kinds of bikes and riding trips. Some I have no interest in going to or reading about. It does seem to be getting to be more of an advertisement than something you really want to read. It is pretty reasonable in price to subscribe to. Right before Christmas I signed up for 1 more year,(6 issues) we will see how it goes this year. I was shocked to see how much Easyrider was on the news stand at Wally world a few weeks ago.

I get Roadrunner from time to time, but jeez, they do a heck of alot of eastern state tours, but scant few in the midwest, or parts west. Seems like a pretty regional rag.

I've been meaning to subscribe to Roadrunner.  I had read it last year and then lost the dang issue.  I guess I'll have to google it on this new fangled world wide web thing and get a subscription since I can't find it on the news stands around here.  Since I live on the east coast I guess more coverage of that half of the country won't bother me.

Sadly I concur sir.

As we all know the print media is dying FAST in lieu of the FAST pace internet.  Advertising on the internet is up while print media is down.  Within 7 years print media will become much like 8-Tracks, cassettes, VHR, BetaMax and other forms of stone-age products...Enjoy it while you can...

I agree to a point.  I still think there's a segment of the population who wants to read for pleasure that will still want to take a magazine and relax on the crapper or soak in a hot tub or even just kick back on a dog day afternoon.  Album (Vinal) sales were up last year.  Kind of the same thing.

But the competition for those readers will be fierce.  And I'll be surprised if there's more then one or two mags left that are dedicated to street bikes.  Maybe AIM?  Cycle World and Rider? although I don't read them.

Hot Bike, Easy Rider, Iron Horse are all in the days are numbered category.

IMHO.
