Mind you it is summer here in Australia....  But my new 2011 110 just seems unhappy, seems a bit coarse... Just a bit too hot...  Is it just not run in yet?  My 96 and 103 were no where near as hot a running.

We mapped it on a Dyno, and it is not running lean, infact a bit richer than stock on the leanest top at 3000 rpm.  It just seems too hot, but is it just a case of breaking it in?  Or should I get a race tuner?  Cat less V&H, and opened up Super Trap mufflers straight shot out...

All else stock.  Am I being too hard on it?  Patience and let it break in?

I am waiting to develop the confidence in this new 110 Street Glide, before I sell my very happy (but slow) 103 Dresser... :2vrolijk_21:

Is this right?

That on the 110, a low rise cam to satisfy EPA requirements, is a partial cause of the heat problems?  If that is true, then a better cam higher rise more fuel, might actually cool it down with better performance?

Or am I just barking up a tree with nothing in it...  Thanks in advance, Cowboy 2

they do run really hot stock.  They say it by just putting a race tuner in it will make a big difference.

I added a TTS to my '10 and it ran better and cooler even before I had any other mods done....I used the canned map for a '10 with stock exhaust. The tuner really helps!!!

Come on man! It is a big engine between your legs... Summer weather does not help. It is running the OEM mixture, that is not lean like burn a valve or piston lean. Some kind of tuner will help it run better and cooler. If I am sitting still my old 88"RKC and current 09SEUC will both fry my right thigh! I don't know how much less heat you are expecting to get with your mods.

How did you "map it"?

I have been complaining about a "very hot right calf" syndrome ever since I took delivery of my new 2011 FLHXSE2.

After changing to a V&H head pipe (without cat), V&H mufflers and HD race tuner, it was still running extremely hot even after a 20 minute ride.

Solved the heat issue by removing the lower foot fairings. Now cool air blows around the "Ventilator Air Cleaner" and the motor. Before this the outer chrome cover of the air cleaner was extremely hot and burning my right calf.

Moral of the story, "Ventilator Air Filters need Ventilation".

Love the bike again.

Dear Rudy

Did you remove the whole lower fairings or just a part of them. Do you have a picture??

If it is just a part of the fairing lowers, which one exactly and how did you made it. It is difficult to imagine, because I am still waiting on my bike and here in Europe we have not seen the 2011 CVO Street Glide in reality!

Thanks

My HD Dealer removed the entire lower fairing at my request at the first service. He did say that there is a quick removal kit that allows you to remove and replace the lowers, however I dont think I will put them back on. They are not required "Down Under".

@Aero:

it's just the same parts as with the Ultras, go look at one of them for the detachable version.

But as we do not live downunder the lowers are very welcome over here most of the year, especially when you get into rain.

Try them out before you think of removing them. In temperatures around 25 C the heat is not such an issue. After I "lost" my cat I stopped to bother, only on hot days in dense city traffic I still realise it.
