Fullsac Bafffes
« on: January 03, 2011, 07:37:09 PM »

I currently have the Vance & Hines Power Dual Head Pipe and Kuryakyn Crusher Mufflers on my SERG.
I'm happy with sound of the bike but I don't like the looks of the mufflers in the bags. I have the Slip Stream tips which look great but they look smaller then the stock mufflers even though the Kuryakyns are also 4" mufflers. They have a nice deep sound to them.
I'm thinking of sending my stock mufflers to Fullsac and have them install new cores. I'm curious as to what others think about the difference in sound between the different sizes.
I also still have my stock head pipe which is like new. Is there any value in the pipe? I will be selling my Kuryakyn muffler's if anyone is interested.

2BWild, I installed the 1.75 inch Fulsac baffles in the stock mufflers of my 09SEUC and I am totally happy with the sound at idle, when cracking the throttle, and when cruising. It idles just a little bit louder than stock (of course I left the packing in) and going down the freeway in my opinion it is the perfect sound . I have never heard the 2.00 or 2.75, but my S.E. is for long rides and I would definitely not want it any louder then  it is.  With Steve's map and open air cleaner I have great power and good mileage. I will absolutely leave it the way it is unless something breaks. Regarding your head pipe the value would be different if it has the cat in it or not. I had a good transaction with one of the guys on the site in late 09 for a catless head pipe. He was in Ohio and I am in So Cal. including postage I paid about $160.00 Maybe prices have  changed since then, as for now I am keeping my stock one which has the cat, I don't know why, but I would also be curious to know what a stock headpipe with a cat is selling for also. Goodluck with your decision. CAHDBIKER

I am running high flow intake, V&H power duals head pipe with stock cans with the Fullsac 2" cores on a 2010 Ultrase. The pipes are loader than Reinharts and deeper. The bike will require to have a race tuner and dyno to get the best performance.

Steve at Fullsac is great to work with, you will not be dissapointed.

I've had both the 1.75" and 2.00".  The sound difference is not that great and to me the 1.75" are too quiet.  Even the 2" are quieter than my old V&H's and quieter than most other pipes.  They are not at all too loud at any speed for the stereo system.

It's a little muffler chamber with holes in it that creates back pressure.
I'm not sure if that's the proper explanation, without looking it up.

Exhaust Baffle
•The exhaust baffle is a chamber inside a muffler or resonator that is designed to muffle or silence the otherwise loud exhaust system. Ingeniously, the muffler uses the baffle chamber to increase the amount of internal sound inside the chamber so by the time it exits the muffler, the sound cancels itself out. Exhaust is spent fuel and air of an internal combustion engine and is extremely loud coming from the cylinders of the engine. An exhaust system controls the sound through a manifold and a series of pipes, a catalytic converter (on vehicles) and the muffler. In some applications, resonators are present in the exhaust pipes that act as a second (or more) muffler on the system. Inside the muffler or resonator is a sealed chamber with two or more perforated tubes. The inlet perforated tube allows the exhaust to emit into the baffle chamber, bounce off the interior walls and enter into the outlet perforated tube where it is then directed by back pressure through the tailpipe of the muffler. The perforated tubes in the baffle chamber create a nondirectional interference with the flow of the back pressured exhaust and assist in silencing the exhaust.
Perforated Tubes
•There are adjustable or do-it-yourself baffle kits that can be manipulated and inserted into the exhaust system muffler (most common on motorcycle mufflers) to change the pitch of an exhaust to either intensify or decrease the amount of sound the exhaust system emits. By doing so, these baffles can increase the horsepower of the engine (for racing), which subsequently decreases the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Conversely, a quieter, more controlled sound can be achieved.

I have the 2-1/4" baffles with the original packing and I'm real happy with the sound. They have a nice deep rumble but not too loud. People have told me they sound like a "slightly" mellower version of Rinehart true duals. Since they're the biggest of the three baffles, I was concerned about hearing my radio at highway speed but we can both hear it just fine when the volume is turned up halfway.

Hey, I just installed the 2.25 Fullsac baffles plus the x pipe plus the TTS tuner on my new 11 SESG. It turned out better than I expected, and easier than expected. Steve and the gang at Fullsac are awesome!
