Batwing Fairing Supports

Has anyone had issues with the supports that hold the outer fairing breaking? Is there a good fix out there?

The latest ones from HD are a bit beefier than the ones on my '08 that broke....but is there a  better  fix?

After replacing mine three or four times on each side I refused to buy any more from HD, some suggested here to modify the old ones or make your own, since I did that I have had no more problems.

The left side braket on my 2004 cracked last year. Following the idea from someone else on this board i pop riveted a strip of metal over the fatigued area on the bracket to reinforce.... So far so good...  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: I cant find the thread discussing but it here somewhere..

The following are someone else's pics and homework.  A method I've used to good effect a few times though.  So I don't mind stealing the work. 

Don't remember anymore who originally put them up.  But they've been worth keeping together as this gets asked about occasionally.
