GPS NOISE
« on: January 04, 2011, 11:46:22 AM »

I just received my 2011 flhtcuse6.... I had a 2008 flhtcuse?
When the gps gives directions the mike opens and i get all kinds of noise thru the speakers. My 2008 did not do this and i had the same 660 zumo on it. Also I tried another zumo on my bike and got the same results. Does anybody know what might be wrong? :'(

Try turnin the VOX down so the speakers don't break the mic open.

This is a common problem with these bikes, it seems to be a design problem with the NIM.  Look around, there are a lot of threads here on this issue, under this heading and under the 2011 FLTRUSE heading. My bike was so bad and they worked on it so much they're in the process of giving me a new bike, I just hope it's better than the first one. But my original bike had wires ripped out of it from the factory so the GPS didn't work at all until they installed a new cradle and harness, then all the background static was there that they could never reduce to a reasonable level. Good luck!

My 660 does the same thing. I even turned the intercom and CB off and the Zumo still activates the helmet mike to give directions. Any ideas???
