Aftermarket heads
« on: February 08, 2011, 01:23:21 PM »

I am researching a large bore engine build from scratch using Axtell cylinders on someones big bore cases. Does anyone know who makes aftermarket heads to fit on a 4 5/16 bore. I want a basic unworked head to have my own choice of a head work shop do the port and polish. I am going to check with Jims to see if I can buy their cases and heads but I am betting if I substitute Axtell cylinders for Jims cylinders I will have fitment or bolt pattern issues. Thank You for your replies. Jeff

R&R Cycles (father/son) do some excellent machine work, they are not cheap, but! you can order parts or whole engines.  :drink:

You can't go wrong by going JIMS or Axtell. Both are beefy... JIMS case is  beefy and can all of your expandability needs. Also call Chez at Axtell. They are good folks. He understands mixing and matching... There are a lot of good porters out there. I favor Baisley because he's one of the best and he's local. Hillside is a one stop shopping store. You can get it all done with Scott and is proven to be a top gun as well. There's an army of top gun porters out there. Too many to name.
