Hawg Wired - anybody experienced breaking out of fairing?
« on: February 01, 2011, 07:03:03 AM »

just got 2 Hawg Wired Front To Back Systems, it's the first install of one of those for our local dealer. Everything went perfectly easy thanks to Jim's install documentation on this site. But as he is super cautious he put up one question: the speakers are much heavier than OEM and the front speakers are only fitted to the fairing by 3 screws so he's afraid those srews could break out of the fairing. As there must be hundreds of such ore similar installs statesides: has anybody experienced such a problem?

I couldn't find any reports of the like on the usual H-D forums so I suspect this problem is not real, but I thought I better ask  ;)

Not a concern here.  Just three screws.  But large ones with plenty of depth.  And the holes they screw in to have plenty of meat around them.  So long as the installer doesn't screw up and ruin the holes by overtightening you will be fine.
