non U.S. 110 failures
« on: January 19, 2011, 04:40:05 PM »

Are European, Canadian, other owners experiencing oil consumption problems with their late model 110's the way many of us here in the U.S. are?

Last time I looked, all the 110's were assembled with the same parts by the same folks.  I can't think of a single reason why the export versions would have a significantly diffferent failure rate.

Perhaps a reference to the gas and lubricants in the US vs. overseas - not necessarily the origin of the motors?   :nixweiss:

would you think they are controlling pollutants to the degree they are on U.S. bikes? I bet not, if they don't have to.

actually most of the developed world is much more restrictive about motor vehicles than we are - where you can drive, how fast, doing what, driving what, who can drive, etc. its a complete american fantasy that we are over taxed and over restricted. we have the most freedoms, cheapest taxes, cheapest gas of anyplace decent to live in on the planet. i have a close friend who lived in germany for a while, cant change ANYTHING without risking a tow ride & a fine..

your friend must have lived in Bavaria  ;D

But basically you are right, at least as far as the EC states are concerned. For us, the US still are motorcycle wonderland (except for the speed limits)  ;)

In the UK, as long as you dont attract attention to much its not that bad, main problem would too noisy exhaust, too small licence plate and rear lights, I have just fitted D+D Fat cat with unrapped baffle, sounds great, so far no problems, dont think I will have, have friends with straight throughs and they have not had any problems with the authorities, I do have flashing rear brake lights, and have to disable them when my bike goes in for its annual DOT test, but switch them back on straight after, police think they are a good thing but at moment, DOT dont like them.
With regard engine mods, no problems.

As too the origonal question, my 2007 cvo RK, has had both recalls done, the rear cylinder was leaking oil, auto comp
releases were not working, I have had headwork main worry was the rubish valve guides, also replaced the inner cam
bearings with proper torrintons. I think will have Crank trued, welded and ballanced next winter.

i think all of the issues we have experienced have been universally worldwide the same, but I think living in a cooler climatic area will surely help these motor issues.

As Kraut stated, most of us Europeans can only dream of the mods most of you guys do to your bikes, hell my 07 was so restricted when they gave it to me it only pushed out 65hp and was left behind on acceleration by a stock TC88B
