Full sac baffles?
« on: February 03, 2011, 03:51:23 PM »

My concern when installing Fullsac baffles 1 3/4 inch is noise level when cruising? I am looking for not much louder than stock but would love a little rumble  when I get on it. I have an 07 SERK. Thanks Billy

Just had the 2 inch installed (packing removed).  They are much quieter than Rinehart duals.  Nice low rumble at idle and cruising speed.  Louder on acceleration.

I would think the 1 3/4's with packing installed would be even quieter.  You could try it with packing and if its not loud enough, pull the packing out.

I think the 1 3/4 baffles will be just what you are looking for sound wise. I don't think any of the Fullsac baffles are what I would call loud. I have the 2.25" installed in my 09SEUC, they are not even close to being as loud as the Rush pipes on my old 03 Road King Classic. I thought the Fullsacs would be louder and I would have liked them to be louder but I am cool with there sound. The $$ saved on the Fullsac baffles where a PLUS. Hope this helps.

When I installed the FS 1 3/4" baffles in my wifes 09, 96" Ultra I did a before & after sound level test.  Bear in mind the sound meter has not been calibrated in years so the actual db # is not accurate but the before & after results are relative to each other.

Using the new AMA guidelines, 24" back & 24" off the side at a 45 deg angle is where I took the measurements.

So:
Idle
Before - 88db
After - 86db

2000rpm
Before - 92db
After - 92db

Subjective, what I hear:
Idle
Before - higher pitch exhaust, no deep throaty sound
After - lower pitch (explains the lower db at idle) nice deep sound

Crusing
5th or 6th gear, on the flat, 75 mph on cruise - very quiet but a different lower pitch sound that stock

Running up through the gears:
Shifting by 3k, a pleasant deep sound, not loud
Shifting by 5k, a very throaty deep sound, but still not loud in any sense.  You know a HD is coming!

I like them so much I am considering taking the Yuill Bros Elite D's off my 06SE Ultra and replacing the entrie system with Fullsac & adding 02 sensors.

1.75's are neighborhood friendly for my early AM work days but bark when you crank on it.  I really like mine.

understand the adding 02 sensors?

Adding the 02 sensors gives the computer total control for precision fuel management, allowing the engine to run in closed loop when riding conditions allow.

If you read the TTS manual there is a section that talks about adding them to non 02 sensor mc's.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that.
