Choice of controllers for my FXSTDSE
« on: February 17, 2011, 09:42:08 AM »

I am putting exhaust on my 2003 CVO. It is a 2 into 1 and then have an Indy put it on his dyno. Problem is Indy said he can't use the SERTuner, and would piggy back?? an injection Controller and the tune. Now the MoCo dealer just did the SE race tuner when a prior controller went out. (When it was traded in and I then purchased) So I don't know anything and really want to understand before I do anything! U guys have seen this issue a bazillion times, so I would appreciate all help that is offered!
Thanks,
PW

find another tuner. one that CAN use a SE tuner. you have one of the best tuning devices out there. no need to go backwards because the guy cant tune with it.

I guess I'd ask "why not"? He must have some reason not to.
If you're doing a dyno you would want the capability to do a "full" tune. That would probably take 6 hrs plus or minus. You already have the tuner, may as well use it!

I agree with the above statements...find someone who knows how to use the tuner you already own. it will do everything you need--you just need the right person to work with it.

Are you talking about the Fuel Inj Tuners???  Well..the short answer....these things run waaaaayyy too lean from the factory (for emmissions reasons) and any mods that make the bike breathe easier (air filter and exhaust) means more air in and out which requires more fuel. So the tuner fixes that problem.
