Powder Coat
« on: February 23, 2011, 11:14:05 AM »

Thinking about powder coating the chrome lowers & turn signals on my black diamond 2011 SESG. Is this a stupid idea?

Seems like a subjective choice.  Certainly not stupid.  I once powder coated the rear signals on a Titan to match the black rear fender.  I was happy with the results...

Harley sells black lowers for a faster turn around! And no you are not crazy! There are pictures of my 03 Glide floating around up here that is all blacked out.

Not if you like the stealth look, cheaper than chrome.

You can also get translucent powder coating over the chrome. Not sure what you think of that idea. All the chrome on the bike below was coated with a copper translucent powder coat.

Personally, I would keep those chrome lowers for resale purposes and powder coat a cheap pair of take offs...a super easy find on eBay...IMHO

Keeping the chrome lowers for resale makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

I thought the chrome turn signals looked out of place also on my black/crimson, but I like the balance with the chrome lowers. Let us know what you decide. No matter what your decision is it will be the right one because it's YOUR bike. Don't forget the pictures!
