HID's - recommendation
« on: March 23, 2011, 06:18:38 PM »

Hello all;

I am at the point where I want to add some HID's to my 09 RG.  There are just too many choices (Motorcycle Metal, Xenon, Hawg Sounds etc).  I am looking to get the most reliable solution and not focus on cost alone.  I called HD and Kuryakyn and neither would confirm or deny any plans on LED's for the Road Glide.  So, what are the thoughts and opinions.  Thanks in advance

SEARCH.... lots of feedback on different suppliers, to in depth installations with pictures.

I have a friend who is a local supplier of HID kits for automotive.... not much difference except for the extra wire for one side.

There is discussion about using the HDI running light circuit to mower the main relay, and some go to the battery.

I tried using the HDI light circuit, but I get a shutoff condition on startup... both lights will always light up when ignition is on, but the apparent draw from the start circuit will drop enough power to lose one or the other once the bike is running... and sometimes not.

I plan on running the power to the battery and assuring good grounds for both sides.

One thing is certain.. you will become an expert at removing and installing the outer fairing by the time youre done!

I have done much reading and have seen just about every post on this.  however, i havent seen any comparisons specific to the various choices.  It seems that the ballast is what drives cost and some of the quality issues.  I was just wondering if folks had anything to compare one vs the others.

I just applied a Hemrick Performance HID Kit to the Wife's  :pumpkin:  :2vrolijk_21: very impressed with the kit. If I would have found them sooner they would have been applied to the Roadglide.
