Finally mounted the Warheader...
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:21:38 AM »

... from Hacker Custom Exhausts.
I was skeptical, having never run a 2-1, anything black ceramic (especially on one of these bling barge CVOs), and I'd hadn't heard much at all about the manufacturer.

Well happy day, it's done, sounds awesome, runs great and I think the color works out well.
I'm looking into a black cover for the A/C, but afraid of restriction.

What do you all think?

Looks great!  :2vrolijk_21: I like the detail on the heat shields, and the black goes well with your paint scheme.

I'm working on that.
My camera mic gets overwhelmed by the sound, and I couldn't get photobucket to accept the vid file anyway.
I guess 47 megs is too big?

That is one sweet ride. The black goes perfectly with the color of the bike.

The look sure is nice and perfect for the model. My only question would be on performance. The muff seems to be quite small in the photo. Obviously you did your homework on this. What else can you tell us ? I ask because I may need to buy something like this and custom fit it to the Choppah I posted some pics of elsewhere. Maine has gone overboard on motorcycle exahusts and even a ground up custom now has to have some kind of muffler. Baffles in pipes like the Yaffe X-Pipes I have are not good enough. Your exhaust looks perfect but I'd like to know more about it

Thanks

First off, you can research the company at www.hackercustomexhaust.com
Someone elses dyno sheet is on the site.

That being said, this particular pipe is available with a 9", 12" or 16" long muffler. The 9" is not tunable, and so I understand that to mean the 12" (mine) and 16" will accept the optional baffles. This pipe comes with the Track Tuned baffle, which is itself stepped in size, and produces 107 decibels. Additionally, you may select the Quiet baffle at 96 - 97 decibels, or the H-P Tuned baffle at 103 decibels.
By comparison, Hacker measured their engines at 80 decibels with stock pipes and wide open straight pipes in the low 120s.

I don't know which engine(88", 96"?) they arrived at these sound levels with, but I believe mine is a tad over the claimed 107. I broke out the calipers for a quick pause and the head pipes seem to come out at 1.65" ID, is that 1.75" OD? At my best try, the baffle ID is 2".

Now you know everything I do, except the sweet sound these make with a 110" behind them. I got the video up, but again the quality SUCKS. Looking for a way to use a decent microphone with my aged camera. Sooo much bass is lost that they sound slappy/tinny which is NOT accurate at all.

I'll link to mine, but please go to youtube and search "hacker exhaust" for better video.

One more beauty shot...

And now the short video.
I only blipped the throttle a little, I really should wick it to do the pipes justice... :)

Ok, for those of you looking to hear a closer representation of the pipe, here is someone else's work posted on the Tube.
Their camera was better and picks up more of the bass.
Our 110" mills are even louder, as is my Track Tuned insert over this HP one.
Spiderman, you might want to opt for the quiet baffle (6-8 decibels above stock) as the above 2 are less restrictive and consequently louder.
No way for me to sneak by the popo, already had an issue with that.  :huepfenlol2:
Enjoy.

IRT the Heavy Breather covers...I installed one on my 08FLHR after having the HB for about a year. I didn't notice in difference in the power and it never seemed like it was starving or restricted in any way. Although I didn't Dyno it after installing the cover, I never noticed a difference in response from throttle to rear wheel. Being a Chrome Addict I did love the way it made the HB pop out more on the bike! I will say this...if your intention is to put a black (instead of chrome) cover on it, I didn't like the way it looked with the chrome elbow and black cover. However, IMO the black on black was as sharp as the chrome on chrome.

Well happy day, it's done, sounds awesome, runs great and I think the color works out well.

Well, I took it out for the first actual shakedown run today.
I let her idle a few minutes and warm up, then ran around for another ten minutes or so in a relatively sane fashion.
Then, upon encountering a straight piece of clear road, that all too familiar grin crept across my face, I dropped into second and gave her Hell.
I haven't felt that kind of yank since I hopped on a Gixxer many moons ago. I was closing on tripling the speed limit in NO time.
Very surprised and keeping a constant watch for popo and disgruntled citizens, I went home to bask in the glow.
Holy.
Crap.
I'd lay good money that they heard me in the neighboring county, and not far away a pissed cop was trying hard to find me.

I need to hit a good dyno shop and see if I can tweak out more.
