Boot Dragging/Stuck Under Brake Pad
« on: April 02, 2011, 09:56:45 PM »

I don't know if all years are the same. The distance between the bottom edge of the brake pad and the floorboard is close. Maybe my boots are just thick. Is the lever made so it can be moved up a 1/4" or 1/2". Does it have a splined shaft? Or is the fix a longer extended brake lever? I do have the Kurykan chrome extended floorboard kit, they helped. Seems I only put my foot under the pedal when it is cold or raining otherwise I ride with my feet stuck out. Anyone else experienced this? Which extended lever did you change to? What was your fix. Thanks
I did a search but, truthfully good tired of reading.

I have big feet and have always liked the EZ Brake and shifters. Got them from Kuryakyn

I had trouble with my boot hooking it when i applied the brakes. Moved the floor board out 1.5" with the relocator spacers. Try not putting your foot under and stay just to the side of it. Its safer that way to reach the pad in a hurry

I have had the chrome Kuryakn relocators for a while but just got them put on a couple days ago. They did help a lot. I guess I will eventually wear a slot in my boot and it will be ok.lol

One Sharp Road King,

I have the same sort of problem to be careful about, with my size 11 1/2 to 12 boots sized feet...

Anyway, if you are having the problem with steel caps, that was MY problem.. I have to be very careful with steel capped boots.  I have had to switch back to my cowboy boots with a lower profile in thickness.  I actually got my boot stuck and set her over gently on the crash bar cause I could not get my foot out fast enough at a stop...  Duh

Hey Cowboy, my boots are not steel caps (steel toe) just regular Harley boots but they are thicker than cowboy boots. I always put my left foot down first since I am using my right foot to gently apply rear brake along with some front brake to stop. So I have never set her over gently when stopping. Thanks

Just put on the kuryakyn floorboard extenders was worried that they would touch the lowers but they just clear this has moved my foot out 1" and forward 1" fixed all kinds of issues leg not so close to the tank (no rubbing) better air flow less heat noticed on right side and I can comfortably sit with my feet on the whole board instead of hanging off the side ..Proved very comfortable on ride back from AZ Bikefest 650 miles in 9 hours
