Common O-ring sizes??
« on: April 17, 2011, 04:40:36 PM »

I have access to an assortment of O-rings...and am wondering if someone has a list of them so i can 'stock-up'. Specifically looking for the ones for the Ultra and the Sporty. I bought a replacement for the trans inspection plate on the Sporty...but would like to have a 'full set' on hand for when another O-ring rolls away.....and small and easy enough to carry in the saddle bag.... could be a quick fix instead of a big deal for someone on the side of the road.

Later, Dan.

Dan, check the tray and/or lid of the o-ring assortment tray.  I've never seen one that didn't have the sized molded or stamped next to the hole or spindle that held the o-ring made for that spot.

Here is a recent "tip" I got from this forum or some other.......I think it's the #5 O-Ring.......5/16th OD X 1/4 ID X 1/16th.     Anyway,  with about 4 of these O- rings or similar sized ones,  you can avoid the aggrevation of dropping your saddlebag fastener (washers) down into your packed saddle bags when you go to remove them for washing the bike or airing the rear tire, etc.

The Dzues fastener (or whatever you call it),  also has that washer behind it and many times it falls off when you remove it and ends up in the bottom of a packed full saddlebag or behind the saddlebag liner if you have one like on a (CVO).

Remove the fastener and put the damn washer on it and then one of those O-rings and slide it up tight against the washer/fastener.  Now when you go to remove the damn fastener,  the washer will go with it and you won't have to remove all your sh** from the saddle bag to retreive the lost washer. :drink:

If anybody out there works on UH-60 Blackhawks the o-ring for the tail rotor gearbox servo fits the Big Twin derby cover. Just saying.
