iPhone4 and Ford Sync SOLVED!!!!!!!!
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:36:04 PM »

I can't get my iphone 4 to play music in my 2011 F150 with the Sync system.  I keep getting some message about indexing of songs.  Any help?  I've tried using the usb port cable and the 1/8 inch cord I used with my ipod touch.  It also says something about sending the songs via bluetooth but I can't figure that out either.  Please help

I was just told by a local dealer that there is an update available for the sync. He could not however tell me if it was an update that can be done at home via the syncmyride site or if a tech had to do it via their computer. You might want to check the website for an update first. Good luck.

have you synced the phone with blue tooth to the ford yet?  If you have the music will play through the blue tooth.  Sync has to be in bluetooth media not bluetooth phone to hear the music through the speakers.  It will not play through sync phone.  Use the sync quick ref to get you to bluetooth media and it should work.  I have the original year vehicle that sync came out on and synced my iphone 4 to it with no problems.  use can also use satelite radio through your phone and GPS but to hear it in the vehicle they have to come through the "MEDIA"    Good Luck

You are not alone. There are plenty of folks having issues on several ford truck forums.

I wouldn't mind running the songs manually on the iphone, but whenever the iphone or even my ipod touch are plugged in via usb cable, the iphone and ipod touch display "attached to dock" and you can't do anything with it.  When I plug the ipod touch in via the 1/8" cord, I can run it manually, but he iphone won't play anything over the truck system via the cord.

SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You won't believe this--  all you have to do is push the voice button on the steering wheel.  When it asks for a command, you say "blue tooth audio", and it will start playong what ever is playing on iphone, and you can control it from the iphone screen.   Why can't the owner's manual be this clear?  I found a video on youtube where a guy at a Ford dealership shows how to do it.  Fantastic!
