Hey JT - nice to hear from you again.
You'll need a new sharp drill bit as you'll need to drill 2 holes through the metal backing plate - no big deal but will give the lower look & added strength - when you take the plastic cover box of the inside of the fender you will know what I mean.

Thanks Glen for the heads up, I'll get onto that little job this weekend as the weather forcast is for rainnnnn again,geez ive had a bloodynuffovit. Did you ever get around to purchasing all those shiney bits on your wish list?

You can cover up the lower indentation with a CVO medallion as noted in the picture.  I bought it on Ebay after the Harley dealer told me I couldn't get one from Harley...
Very nice lookin SG and that CVO medallion just looks like it was made to fit. Love the look of those V&H HO's as well.
