The height and location of the antenna on a car is much better for signal reception. Most times, it is on the roof.

Locating low, and inside the fairing on a motorcycle wasn't a good choice.
We could do it like the Cop bikes and put the antenna on a pod stuck up in the air.  Mine is under the fairing on top of the radio and the reception is almost as good as it was behind the short windshield on top of the dash.  Worse reception is riding directly away from the satelite or in tunnels or tall trees covering the roadway.  I love the XM variety of music to fit the different rides/moods.  It's not blues all the time.  :cool2: :cool26: har.  spyder

Has anyone noticed any sound quality reduction when listening to XM versus the radio and a CD?  For some reason the quality of sound when I play XM is not nearly as good as the radio or a CD.  Any suggestions?

I have noticed it myself....the sound quality is good but the volume is not near as high.....CD is the BEST....I have also noticed on the XM website it is now SiriusXm....programs have changed, channel numbers have changed but the price doesn't get any cheaper  :soapbox:

Just activated the XM  on my 11 RGCVO and have found the reception very spotty as well.  Never had any problem with Sirius in my cars but this is really aggravating.  Could the placement or the hookup of the antenna in the fairing have anything to do with it or does the XM service just suck! I have already called XM a couple of times for a refresh but doesnt seem to improve the signal.  This isnt happening just  in remote areas but everywhere.

rdrunner.....I noticed that also when i added the xm to my ride b/c of where the antenna was placed......poor design IMO as it was under the fairing quite a bit. the next tiime I had the front fairing off I moved it out as far as I could, and bolted it back on.....what an amzing difference it made, before when I was heading south I couldn't pick up hardly any signal BUT now I can......try that.

I think XM quality on the bike sucks, IMO. The volume is low for the music but when they talk about how much music they play it is way too loud. The clarity is nowhere near what I get from a CD or MP3, even an FM station. Wish I hadn't added the bike to the  subscription but thought it would be better. I also lose stations a lot, even when I just pass under trees - maybe it has something to do with the HK system because I don't have those problems in the Tahoe.
