Seat Questions
« on: May 14, 2011, 07:20:14 PM »

Hello all, I hope that this is in the right place. I have a 2010 SEUC, and short legs. This morning I found a Reach Seat on Craigslist and bought it. This afternoon I was able to get it installed and adjusted the backrest. I really like the added control I get when my feet are solidly on the ground. The part I don't like is that I am giving up the heated seat. I am wondering if anyone has had a custom seat maker transform their Hammock Seat into a Reach seat incorporating the heaters? I'd really like a seat that's heated and confortable enough to ride 1000 mile days.

Supershooter, I have the same short leg problem as you. I had a local custom upholstery shop sculpture my stock seat so I could put my feet flat on the ground. He put a gel pad and reinstalled the heater and all is fine.(the passenger pad was not changed) Prior to reinstalling the original leather (which he had to modify) I went to his shop and sat on  my bike to  make sure he removed enough material. It made a big difference. The cost was approx. $450. which I think is cheaper then buying a heated seat. I have made a post about this previously with pictures. CAHDBIKER

I've never used these folks, but it's definitely worth a look...they do heated seats as well, or add heat to your seat.  Modify the stock seat too...

Hey TC, I checked out the Mean City Cycles website last night. For the money seems like it is worth a try. After riding to Thunder Beach and back, I have to do something my oem SEUC seat is killing my butt. Did not really want to spend big $$$ for a new heated aftermarket seat. Thanks for posting that link. Arland

***EDIT*** Recieved email Sunday from Allen @ Mean City Cycles, he was sorry to say they are unable to make any of there modifications to the OEM Hammock seats due to the small amount of padding that they have. Just FYI.
