2010 FLHXSE Owners Ck Your Fuses
« on: May 11, 2011, 06:32:29 PM »

I purchased this bike 11 months ago & went over the bike front to back & top to bottom checking for loose bolts & fastners, I Never Checked The Fuse Panel.
Today I was installing some Led Lights under the Saddle Bags & had the bags off, seat, & for the first time the side covers.
The fuses looked Odd & One Looked Out Of Position.
I got a flashlight & touched one fuse it fell out of it's placement.
After reinstalling the loose fuse, I pushed on several others and 1/2 were not bottomed out and pushed in about an 1/8 th of an inch.
Just bringing this to other CVO owners attention, curious to see if anyone else has had this problem, or will find what I found after checking your bike?

Hey, mine was even missing one in the accessory spot. Hard wired my satelite radio off cigarette lighter power and couldn't get it working. Then noticed the accessory switch on dash didn't light up and turned on, finally when we were wiring for tourpack, couldn't get power.  I just happen to take it apart to wash and thought I would check the fuse box, making sure it had spares, and low and behold, the accessory was missing its fuse entirely. WHO DOES FINAL INSPECTION????

Uhhh, that would be you.  Harley doesn't care, and anyone who thinks his dealer is checking all this stuff during prep needs to send me all his money in exchange for this lovely piece of properly I don't actually own but I'll sell to them anyway.

One of the things I noticed in the auto business was that the spare fuses that were specified to be installed by the supplier in the blank spaces in the fuse boxes were often missing on finished vehicles.  Investigation determined it wasn't our supplier sticking it to us, it was the repairmen in the assembly plant using those fuses during repair work rather than request a supply of repair parts.  Wouldn't surprise me if that isn't also true of Harley and it's dealers.
