They replaced mine under warranty and now they don't get as warm. I am sure they put some kind of load resistor on to keep the temp down. They deny it, but don't matter cause out of warranty now. Tricky little MoCo.

How long has it been since you rode off the parking lot? Thats when the warranty ran out! lol. I think that question has been answered here before but I can't remember the answer. Wild guess I would say 30 days, if that long.

As long as the original warranty is still in effect.  Extended warranty has deductable on some items.  The "new" heated grips do not get as hot as the older ones.  I don't believe it's the construction, but the electronics that control the temperature.

Muddypaws, my local Hd dealer gives 90 day warranty on parts they install. I had an issue with my 95 Heritage in 2007. The original rear brake light switch (which was quite large) lasted from 1995 until 2007. I had the dealer replace it since I was leaving on a 3000 mile trip the next day. The replacement model was half the size. (naturally they forgot to bleed the brakes so I had to do it myself in a parking lot in Mohab Utah). The 1st new switch went out after about 6 months. The dealer would not replace it. So I paid for it myself and then called customer relations and they sent me a check for the part. This happened two more times within about 18 months. In a nutshell they paid me for 3 switches, but did not pay me for the labor I paid to have the first one installed. So now I am on my 4th rear brakelight switch and so far so good.  Sorry for the long post. Good luck. CAHDBIKER

As best I can remember, a part replaced under the new vehicle warranty is covered for the remainder of the new vehicle warranty or 90 days, whichever is greater.  At least that's how decent manufacturer's (I don't necessarily include Harley in that group, btw) handle similar situations.  I suggest you contact H-D for a definitive answer if your vehicle warranty has run out.  And who knows, if you catch them on a good day they might offer to take care of it even if the warranty has expired. ???
