Rattle in horn on 2010 SEUC
« on: May 24, 2011, 08:38:43 PM »

Went on a lovely ride this weekend and half way through the ride I noticed a rattle which was most prominent at low speads coming from the horn. I attempted to tighten the screw, but it did not help and seems to be coming from inside the horn. Anyone else have this problem? Advice on how to fix it? Very annoying and with the long weekend coming up, would love to stop the rattle.

According to the service manual the horn is sealed and non-serviceable.  Sounds like you need to take it off, take it apart, and break out the epoxy or get a new one.  Still under warranty right?

What "screw" were you attempting to tighten?  Or did you mean the nut that attaches the horn to the bracket and the cover?  The only screw I can think of is an air gap adjusting screw used to tune the horn during the manufacturing process, and it is sealed.

Make sure the horn isn't loose inside the cover causing a rattle, and it isn't able to touch the engine as it shakes around.  Also check the mounting bolts for the bracket to the engine.  If all that is OK, have your dealer check it out and replace the horn if it's defective.
