Spring Ride to Blue Ridge
« on: May 01, 2006, 07:36:06 AM »

I was able to take my first decent ride of spring last thursday, a beautiful clear day in North Georgia. After having a week from hell on 24hr pager duty it was just what the doctor ordered.  On my way up to Blue Ridge via Highway 60 , I stopped in Dahlonega for a short rest and found a Rolls Royce /Bentley Owners Rally going on .  The streets were lined with probably 50+ mostly older models dating back to the 30's.  My favorite pic is the 30's Bently parked next to the new red one. An older couple was admiring the old one when I pointed out the red new one next to it. We all concurred we liked the old one better.  The rest of the ride was fantastic , one of the best I've ever had.

I stopped at the summit of 60 at Woody Gap for a pic break.

If your ever up this way , I recommend it , it isn't quite as twisty as Deals Gap but longer and has some of the best scenery around.

3 beauties ,  one of the owners commented , "Aren't these fine automobiles ?", and I replied  ," They are beautiful , kind of like the Harley -Davidson of cars"  he smiled at that.

Yeah, I like the old one too, after seeing the big oil stain under the new one!  ;D

Nidan, I'm gonna put 60 on my list of roads for when we ride up that way.  [smiley=dankk2.gif]
Great pics!

Good idea.  You'll love it.

Thanks for the photos, Nidan.  (As a former resident of Marietta, I have been to Dahlonega and the N. Georgia mountains numerous times).  Tons of beautiful riding up there.
