My own LED tourpak conversion / mod
« on: July 10, 2011, 01:00:35 AM »

So after I learned that the MOCO had no kit available to convert my tourpak LED's to function as turn, runnning, and brake I spent a few hours and came up with this > http://youtu.be/AIKD4jSosHE. The outside LED modules are NOT dual function like the center module so I was forced to use several resistors to reduce the center lamp parking lamp output to match the right and left modules. I was unable to get the brake function for the two outside modules to illuminate like the center module but after seeing the turn signals I was not concerned. Sorry about the low quality of the video but I didn't have much time to obtain it.

You solution works great but is there a reason you couldn't just use the kit that the MoCo made for TP's. According to the website, when I search for parts for my bike (2010 SEUC - LED TP Lighting), this kit is listed as applicable for my bike (listed under lighting). Do you know for a fact that this kit won't work? http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448775795&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309406573&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309406573&bmUID=1310298673924&bmLocale=en_US

I see there are some other options available for this mod. My solution cost me $0.00 and the turn signals are very noticeable since they flash from OFF to BRIGHT rather than LOW INTENSITY to BRIGHT. This was the most important part of this mod IMO. Getting the turn signals to be right in the face of cages behind me.

Heatwave, I installed the referenced kit on my non-LED Ultra light bar tour pak.  The harness supplied uses a subsitute contact that is installed in each bulb holder that would not be compatible with the LED light bar.   Here's a picture of the bulb holder with the substitute connector from the supplied harness installed and the removed connector standing alone which is, per the installation instructions, simply taped off:

I suppose the contacts could be removed and the kit's harness wiring spliced into the OEM LED light bar wiring on your bike; just haven't heard of this being done.

Thanks for the clarification. It's somewhat unsual for the MoCo on-line catalogue to list an upgrade component for a specific bike that's not really compatible but it sounds like that's what they've done.

IMHO if you are happy with the way your light work.....perfect :2vrolijk_21:

Others may have opinions.....but it is your scoot and no one needs to be happy but you :2vrolijk_21:
