I want one just around the radio buttons. I think I'm going to buy the aluminum one to use as a patten and then have my friend stamp one out of steel and have it chromed.

If I were guessing, I'd say they don't chrome that piece because it would always be smudged with fingerprints...the brushed aluminum doesn't show fingerprints/smudges.

Why not have the aluminum one bright anodized and save your friend a lot of work?  Or you can also get the aluminum one chromed as well.

I did not know you could chrome aluminum.  Great idea. There is a place that does chrome not far from my house.
