No Oil Pressure
« on: May 25, 2006, 08:30:45 PM »

I recently had the oil pressure go away on my SEEG. I returned it to the dealer and upon investigation found the cam plate to be " loose" and the alignment dowels to be loose in the case. He reccommended to green loctite the dowels in place and wait til the warranty was close and replace the case . Cold weather time. Has anyone else had any simular problems? The tech, which I respect, said he had not seen this on a twin cam before.

I wouldn't let them wait on the replacement of the case.  I would do it now while the problem is still fresh in everybodies mind, rather than wait till later when the may say, "It doesn't seem to be causeing a problem now!"  Might be a good time to upgrade on the bearings too, since someone will be in there....

I agree 100% with Coolbreeze.  Fix the problem now; there is no reason to wait.  It's under warranty, so tell them you don't want to wait  [smiley=soapbox.gif]!!  Tell them to fix it now [smiley=soapbox.gif]!!

If you do consider electing to wait get it in writing from the service manager that the shop will honor the warranty claim later at the time they suggested and that you are doing this in accordance with their suggestion.  Otherwise some hypothetical asshole might tell you later (after it's blown up) that you chose to ride it after having known there was a problem and thereby caused more and greater problems by your own actions.  If they won't do that then fix it now.
