How does anyone like the XM Weather thing on the 665?  Was thinking about getting it for a trip.

I've had it on my 478 for a few years now and recently canceled it. I liked it but it does come at a cost. Specifically, $29.99 per month. While it's nice to have NEXRAD over the map as you go, you can get the same information on an Iphone (which wasn't available when I bought the 478). The fisherman subscription supposedly allows you to turn it off during the "non" season but I haven't trued this for a few years.

I like my navweather on my 665. It costs an additional $4.95 per month to add. I learned if you have a lifetime XM radio subscription you can't add weather for $4.95. My friend that has a 665 told me that. I haven't personally verified it.

Is the "navweather" different than the NEXRAD? NEXRAD overlays a weather image onto the map. It is not a voice telling you what the weather (or traffic) is.

I've had both Nav Traffic and Nav Weather on my 2730 Street Pilot but cancelled both.  The only time I use either is on the long trips and I know when I'm getting wet it's raining......don't need to stress about it ahead of time. :nixweiss:

I will activate the Nav Traffic when we get ready to take a trip.  It's really helped several times when you get around the larger cities.  If I lived in LA or NY, I'd keep the subscription full time. ;D

Yes, navweather lays it out over a map & you can zoom out or in for more detail.

I didn't realize it had come down in price that dramatically. The Fisherman package for my 478 was $29.99 a month. Guess that is why they have discontinued that model. May have to be looking for a 665 in the near future.
